It’s been an interesting month. As Earth, Wind and Fire sang all those years ago;
“our hearts were ringin’,
in the key that our souls were singin’.”
Probably some of my favourite lyrics, and very apt ones for September.
So, what’s been going on, I hear you ask?
The ups and downs of freelancing
I lost a dear client who I loved to work for due to financial constraints on her end. Fortunately, we have a great relationship and I know if the financial situation changes, she’ll come back and work with me again. It’s always sad to lose work though. However, I have gained two more clients - one with someone I know socially through a friend and one I found through Upwork.
My client launched their INCREDIBLE online gift shop for pregnant women and new mums!
Honestly, I’ve loved working with the team at Mamacita Collective, and see this brand grow in such a short space of time. If you’re looking for luxury, customised, one-of-a-kind gifts for a friend or family member who is having a baby or just had a baby, this is the place and brand for you (and for them!). Discover scalloped waffle robes, ruffled PJ sets, silk eye masks, tongue-in-cheek knickers, candles, tea and more. Kind of perfect for baby shower gifting too.
Rediscovered Australia, in the best way
I lived and worked in Melbourne for a few months back in 2016 in my early twenties after travelling around Australia and New Zealand for a few months, and I absolutely loved it. Having grown up in Bristol, Melbourne truly felt like a home away from home. I’ve been back to Australia since, but always been limited by holiday allowances for jobs I cared far too much about. This time, however, I went on my own terms for 4 weeks. FOUR WEEKS! Unheard of! Just another reason why I love freelancing and working remotely. Instead of doing the same old thing, I flew to Perth, explored some of WA for 2 weeks (although it was raining, cold and I had a lot of work), I then met a friend in Uluru and explored Ayers Rock and the outback for the first time.
I then flew to Brisbane to meet friends for a wedding on the Sunshine Coast, and spent a few days whiling away hours on the beach in Noosa. Not too shabby at all, I’d say. But what did I rediscover? Firstly, an unbridled love for this country. Secondly, ALL the amazing supermarket snacks - I’m talking dips, crisps, cheese crackers, sweets like you wouldn’t believe. Thirdly, my love for Aussie brunch. They just nail it every time. To all the Australian brunch places, I salute you.
The most incredible breathwork feedback
I had two people send me messages about their experiences after doing one of my pre-recorded breathwork sessions from my course, and two other people I did 1:1 sessions with send me the most heartfelt, wonderful messages too. Whether it was breathwork producing huge emotional releases of anger and sadness, waves and waves of tingling in their bodies, or just finally finding a practice that allows their monkey mind to quieten and the thoughts to cease. I’ve even gone and created a community called The Breathwork Collective over on the CLIQ app if you want to come and join!
My brother got a new PUPPY!
I can’t even. She’s the CUTEST. Here’s me with her, never wanting to let go of that ball of fluff and pure love. I know you’re wanting to know her name, and to be honest, it could be even cuter than the pup herself. Drum roll, please. She’s called…Margot.
Kept following my passions over at The C Word
I am unbelievably excited that I’ve finally been able to publish my long-standing Classroom page for The C Word. It’s been a brainchild of mine for months and months, so to finally see it slowly come to life is beyond rewarding. I launched our Community page in late 2023, our Curated page early in 2024, showcasing some of the most incredible woman-owned brands that we’ve worked with and interviewed as a one-stop-shop marketplace (perfect for Christmas gifting, by the way!). So to launch my follow up as ‘Classroom’, makes me even prouder. True to its name, Classroom is all about learning and showcasing some of the best-in-class online courses and digital products created by women
Went to *another* wedding, but there was a key difference
I do really love a wedding. No one’s in a bad mood (even if the weather decides to turn sour), there’s plenty of food (especially if, like me, you strategically place yourself near the entrance to the kitchen during the canapés) and love is well and truly all around. This is my fourth friends wedding this year, but there was a difference I felt inside turning up to this one. Thinking about it, I feel like I showed up to this wedding as my future self, rather than my not-quite-sure current self, and to be honest I’m kind of digging it. I had SO many comments on my outfit, the colour and my glowing holiday skin. I think it was more compliments in one geographical location in a short-time frame that I’ve ever had in my entire life. Enter me, as the CEO of my life, my business and my brand. Long may it continue!
Continued investing in myself and my development
Before going freelance, I never knew how important investing in myself was. Mainly because all of my previous companies I worked for in theory paid for my trainings for me. The irony being that I was always too stressed or busy to actually complete any training. In the last month, whilst still completing my mentorship programme with Lucy Vincent and The Lucky Girl trainings, I also signed up to Karly Arber’s She Owns It course and her Expansion course starting in a few weeks. I’ve been following Karly on Instagram for a few months, and love her content, the way she shows up and the energetics she talks about. I knew I’d love her mentorship, but I didn’t realise just how much! To say I’m excited for Expansion, is an understatement.
Got super spiritual (again!)
Attended an incredible set of spiritual sessions by one of my icons
and it blew my mind. I’ve had many visual meditations and breathworks in the last year. I’ve even had some crazy visual experiences during shamanic journeys deep into my subconscious to meet my spirit guides (more on that another time!). But doing Rebecca’s videos and meeting the inner goddess had be kind of convulsing at one point, seeing things (great things, by the way), feeling a hand on my shoulder, having all the tingles and more. Once you start embracing the spiritual things in life, let go of everything that’s holding you back and surrender to the universe, the strangest but most amazing things start to happen. Trust me.Was called out by my mentor
Soo in the next few weeks, I’m preparing to go HAM on the Lead Gen front after a bit of polite scolding from my mentor (appreciate you, Presli!). It was the kick up the arse I needed and the reason I wasn’t seeing the results that I wanted. Since showing up for myself more in the last few days, I’ve already had 5 discovery calls with potential clients. Long live the lead gen energetics! And if you can’t find me in the next few weeks, it’s likely because I’m glued to my laptop, hustling.
