Mid-July updates ✨
Discoveries and highlights from this month so far, plus a bit of manifestation in action!
The end of June until today’s date in mid-July has been a crazy few weeks for me, let me tell you.
Whether it was manifesting a Glastonbury ticket (more on that later!), a full-circle career moment, a phone call with a psychic, quality time with friends and family or landing a new client. I am LOVING life right now.
But these things don’t just fall into anyone’s lap, not mine, not yours. They’ve come through for me as a result of a lot of hard work, both at a career level, but also on a spiritual, emotional and physical level too. To say I’ve been on a journey doing this work, would be putting it very simply. It’s more like playing sports matches continuously with different parts of your personality. Some you win, some you lose. And that’s totally OK, because you’re learning as you go, and boy, have I learned a lot.
So to give you the full shebang of highlights let’s reorganise this post into a cheeky little listicle (I’ve always loved that word) so I can bullet point out a few of my favourite things, people, and experiences from the last four weeks. Hopefully these may help you in some way, or point you in a new direction, and if not, I hope you enjoy reading about them anyway.
JULY UPDATES/HIGHLIGHTS:
Glasto, baby
For those who couldn’t go, I apologise in advance for any potential smugness, but I finally managed to get a ticket to Glastonbury, and it did not disappoint. When I say ‘managed to’, I like to think of it as ‘subtly manifested’ a ticket. To cut a very long and convoluted story short, through a close connection I found out that I had a ticket the day before the festival started. I zoomed around my parents house hunting for a tent, sleeping bag, and everything else in-between and made it to the grounds by 11am the next morning. Fortunately, I had enough friends already going that I wasn’t camping solo and I spent the next 4-5 days loving life, dancing all day and night and finally understanding what the Glasto hype is all about. Favourite set? Confidence Man. Closely followed by Little Simz. And who doesn’t love belting out any and every Coldplay song in a crowd of 120,000 people? The tears were real.
New client love
After a round of intro calls, and suggested ideas for a launch of a new brand, I signed a deal with the two female founders to work with them on an ongoing monthly basis as their marketing & brand strategist and manager going forwards. Huzzah! I’ll be writing more about them once their website launches but it’s super exciting stuff. Stay tuned.
Breathwork training
I started my first week of breath work training with the very talented Audra Bear this month, and have 6 more weeks of leaning about breathing, the breath, techniques and more so that I can become a certified breath work coach myself and teach others. To say this excites me is the understatement of the year. I cannot wait to share more about this over the coming months!
A cheeky little Zoom interview with Ellie Carlile
As the founder of The C Word Mag, I don’t often get to write or interview as much as I’d like as I’m fairly busy editing, doing social, updating the website, reaching out to brands for partnerships and everything else in-between. This month however, I had the opportunity to interview Ellie Carlile, founder of ByEllie, the beauty brand that went viral on TikTok during the pandemic. She is such an inspiration and it was truly a pleasure to chat to her and find out about her journey from acne and cracked lips to creating one of the fastest growing beauty brands to come out of lockdown.
One wild phone call with a psychic
When I came back to the UK at the end of May after travelling in Central America for 6 months, I decided I wanted to see a psychic. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years but always shied away from out of fear. After reading extensive Google Reviews, I chose the lady I wanted to speak to and organised the call. WOW. She knew so much about my family (including names or injuries), about people who’d passed away, about very personal decisions I’d been thinking about but not yet vocalised and so much more. Take the plunge, I highly recommend!
A full-circle career moment
I was invited to an event in London on behalf of The C Word (my magazine) by the CeraVe skincare team. This is a full-circle career moment for me because CeraVe used to be my client for 2 years at the advertising agency I worked at in 2022 and 2023 before quitting to go travelling. I saw my old client, enjoyed a talk with a dermatologist and the CeraVe team on pollution affecting your skin barrier, SPF and was introduced to their new Vitamin C range (now in Boots stores). A fantastic morning spent at their new CeraVe Vit C Café in Liverpool Street at WatchHouse Café.
Catching up with my nearest & dearest
I’ve spent a lot of the last month and a half catching up with friends and family after being away for so long. Whether that was spending a week in London catching up with pals, a hen do spent at a salsa bar, heading up to the Lake District to go hiking with my mum, dad, aunt, uncle and three cousins to complete my mums last charity walk 3 peak (Scafell Pike), or simply catching up with friends on the phone who are separated by ridiculous time differences over in Australia. It’s been a month of loving chats, laughs and squishy hugs.
First month trialling Daily Devotion
I first came across Daily Devotion (Louise Rumball’s latest subscription service) after completing her new There She Glows course in the last few months. To say this course changed my life is not only an understatement but a small sentence for the great impact it has had on me, my life and even the people around me. Daily Devotion on the other hand, offers daily meditations, gratitude practices, somatic shakes and vibrates and pilates style stretching to follow along to. I LOVE IT. If you’re into podcasts, Louise’s pod called OPENHOUSE is also a game-changer.
New favourite brand
I recently wrote a review for The C Word of sock brand, Bare Kind, and suffice it to say, I’m now in love with their socks. Not only are they super cute (just look at that embroided sloth above), but they are SO comfy, and they give back 10% of profits to animal charities. Made from bamboo, it’s no surprise that they feel like pillows for you feet (literally, no exaggeration there). Honestly, my feet have never been happier.
Freelance learning curve
I’ve only been freelancing since November 2023, so I’m still relatively new to the concept although I am absolutely loving working for myself. The graft in the current financial climate is REAL, but it feels so much more satisfying when you make a big win. I had a client who I’ve been working with for a while, and who I hadn’t heard from in a few months, despite doing some work for them. Instead of letting the relationship fall off a cliff though, I decided to message them and highlight the communication breakdown. Their team asked to hop on a call and now I have even more work as a result!
The meaning of this? When in doubt, just be up front, honest and ask for what you want. If you’re looking for Marketing, Media or Brand consultancy, hit me up and slide into my DMS.
